More of Changsha

After visiting the local kindergarten, we had more exciting sights to see. We visited Tian Xing Park, famous for its ancient wall and pavilion that is more than 500 years old. It was reminiscent of Sarah Duke Gardens with the beautiful plantings and architechture. We saw retirees playing Mah Jong and people relaxing at Tea Houses. We then went to Kai Fu Temple, a Buddhist temple in Changsha. We made a wish and threw incense into a large outdoor furnace. Lydia enjoyed posing for many pictures. We also have to post a picture of the hotel we are staying at in Changsha, The Gold Source Hotel. The second largest ferris wheel in Asia, according to our guide, is right outside. We are on the 27th floor of the 29 story hotel, and the ferris wheel looks almost as tall, and is brightly lit up at night. Lydia has been mesmerized by the lights. We leave very early tomorrow for Changning City, where Lydia's orphanage is located. We'll have lunch with the orphanage director and Lydia's former nanny and foster mother. It'll be a big day, with an almost 3-hour car ride to get there. We were told not to expect much from the hotel in the small town, so we may not be able to post until the next day.
